Bluebell Wood Volunteer Group carries out non-commercial work that is beneficial to both the wildlife and the public amenity within Bluebell Wood.

Bluebell Wood Volunteer Group has been running since November 2003 and has to date assisted in a wide range of tasks including:

  • Scrub bashing
  • Path clearance and repairs
  • Nut hunts
  • Plant and archaeological surveys

The group meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the double gates in North Lane at 10am and works until about 1pm depending on numbers and job. If possible please car share as parking space is limited for more information contact Wesnet Services on (023) 92595147 or E-mail Volunteer. Up coming dates can be found here. *dates for 2007 know up

We normally split the Group into two parts; those who want to do energetic work carry out scrub bashing, path repairs or similar work, while those who are less energetic do flora or archaeological surveys. We welcome people of any age, but if you are under 16 please bring a responsible adult relation with you.

For those new to woodland and conservation work we can give training in the safe use of all hand tools. Please note that we provide all tools but please bring gloves and wear sensible foot ware such as boots or wellies.

The group also has a day out once a year to look at other sites. In the past years we have been to Stansted Park Estate at Rowlands Castle and Queen Elizabeth Country Park/Butser Hill National Nature Reserve (NNR).
